Tartan Genesis looks back through the rich history of tartan to create a collection unlike any other. Featuring six historically significant patterns, it celebrates tartans from before the standardisation of Clan setts, telling the story of Scotland's textile heritage through cloth.

The collection traces the evolution of tartan from Scotland's oldest surviving true tartan, through its military use and the Jacobite Rising of 1745, to the Highland Revival, when visionary weavers played a vital role in preserving and reinterpreting these enduring designs for future generations.

For the first time in a stocked tartan collection, the traditional herringbone selvedge has been reintroduced, inspired by the distinctive weaving techniques found in historic cloth. While retaining The House of Edgar's renowned single-width kilting selvedge, an additional 1½" herringbone border adds subtle authenticity, craftsmanship and historical character.

Tartan Genesis offers the opportunity to wear a genuine piece of Scotland's story, woven into every thread.
